The Badminton World Federation (BWF) has officially announced BK8 News as the Presenting Partner of the BWF Thomas & Uber Cup Finals 2026, one of the most prestigious team badminton championships in the world. It is the most visible BK8 badminton sponsorship to date.
The 2026 Thomas & Uber Cup Finals were held at Forum Horsens in Horsens, Denmark, from 24 April to 3 May 2026. The event marked the 34th edition of the Thomas Cup and the 31st edition of the Uber Cup, drawing top national teams from across the globe to compete for badminton’s most coveted team trophies.
A strategic partnership for global reach
The deal was facilitated by Infront, BWF’s commercial and broadcast partner, with support from Outlast Sports & Entertainment. The announcement was distributed as a Media OutReach press release on 29 April 2026. As part of the collaboration, BK8 News will play a key role through integrated media coverage, creative content distribution, and strengthening the international exposure of the tournament.
BWF’s Director of Commercial and Communications, Owen Leed, welcomed the partnership. According to Leed, the presence of BK8 News reflects the growing commercial value of the Thomas & Uber Cup. He added that the collaboration reinforces the appeal of BWF’s flagship championship while supporting its global exposure through BK8 News’ media network. His comments come from the BWF announcement.
BK8 News Managing Director Michael Gatt also welcomed the deal. In the same release, he called it “a major milestone for BK8 News, providing a global stage to elevate our brand”. He added that the role would help BK8 News deliver a closer fan experience through relevant storytelling.
The 2026 Finals: format and results
Sixteen national teams competed in each event: the Thomas Cup (men) and the Uber Cup (women). China went in as defending champions in both, with 11 Thomas Cups and 16 Uber Cups before this edition.
In the group stage, the 16 qualified teams were split into four groups of four. The top two teams from each group advanced to the quarter-finals. Every tie is decided over five individual matches, three singles and two doubles, and the first team to win three takes the tie.
China retained the Thomas Cup by beating France in the final. South Korea won the Uber Cup, beating China in the final.

BK8 News and BWF: a growing relationship
This is not the first time BWF and BK8 have joined forces. BK8’s own news section lists BK8 as an Official Betting Sponsor of selected HSBC BWF World Tour events in 2024 and an Official Sponsor of the BWF Major Championships in 2025. In September 2026, BK8 announced that BK8 News is also an Official Sponsor of the BWF World Championships 2026 and the HSBC BWF World Tour Finals 2026.
The official BWF announcement of BK8 News as Presenting Partner underscores the deepening relationship between the two organisations and their shared ambition to grow badminton’s global fanbase.
